PHATA meets minister over fire NOC

PANJIM: Panjim Hotel And Traders Association (PHATA) President Barnabe Sapeco met the Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte and discussed the issue of withdrawal of fire NOC for renewal of trade licence for small traders and professionals. The order for fire licence was issued by the collector as part of disaster management.
PHATA had demanded the withdrawal of the guidelines issued by the collector for obtaining fire NOC for small traders and professionals, which comes under revenue department.
PHATA had questioned the wisdom of making mandatory fire NOC and fixing of fire extinguishers to small shops and offices. “In what way fire incidents would be stopped if fire NOC was in place and would the government give compensation if fire broke out in any shop having the fire NOC?” the association had questioned.
PHATA had also point out that most of the government departments are without fire NOC; not have any equipment to contain fire.
After discussions, Khaunte informed Sapeco that instructions would be issued for the withdrawal of fire NOC for trade licence renewal.
