PI Raposo shunted
HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, NOV 9
Calangute police station incharge Nolasco Raposo has been shunted to Goa Reserve Police (GRP) following an internal inquiry report revealed that he did not follow proper procedures in a prostitution racket raid at Candolim in July.
It is learnt that the inquiry conducted by DySP Bousset D’Silva stated that Raposo had not followed proper procedure under Section 15 of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act in rescuing victims.
Calangute police had come under fire for picking up 29 girls from their respective homes suspecting their involvement in the flesh-trade. These girls worked in Candolim’s Shamile Beauty Lounge.
The owner Mahalaxmi Mishra had alleged harassment and extortion from the PI Raposo, which she complained to the women’s commission as well. Mishra, ironically, is booked in another alleged sex-racket case at Porvorim last month.
The inquiry meanwhile, also pointed out the medical examination report that did not coincide with the rescue operation.
