PANJIM: In a latest development, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) land grabbing arrested a Pilerne resident for allegedly grabbing land in Anjuna.
Forty-two-year-old Devanand Prabhakar Kavlekar was arrested by the SIT following a complaint filed by Antonio Savio D’Costa, Power of Attorney (PoA) holder of the actual owner of the property in Anjuna stating that his land was grabbed.
The police have booked 14 persons under Sections 465, 466, 467, 468, 471 read with 120-B of IPC and further arrested the accused person for hatching a criminal conspiracy and for further cheating the rightful owner of the property. The accused persons prepared forged/fake documents of property Survey Number 444/8, of Anjuna Village, and then produced the same as genuine before concerned authorities to transfer the ownership rights.
An offence of cheating and land grabbing has been registered. PI Suraj Samant is investigating the case.
