PANJIM: The Crime Branch Police on Tuesday arrested Jose Inacio Cota from his ancestral house at Betalbatim in connection with an alleged rape case reported in London over five years ago.
Cota is a Portuguese national and a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and wanted in a case registered against him in London (United Kingdom) in May 2017.
The police executed a warrant of arrest issued by the Extradition Court, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi, by arresting the absconding foreign national Cota from his Betalbatim house.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch Police have obtained four days transit warrant in order to produce the accused before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, New Delhi.
The Crime Branch team will escort and produce Cota before the Extradition Court, New Delhi, it was informed.
