Pipeline bursts at Tivim, supply to Bardez hit

MAPUSA: In an unfortunate incident, thousands of litres of treated water went down the drain due to a major breakdown in the main pipeline supplying water to Bardez taluka. The breakage, which occurred at Tivim on Thursday morning, caused severe disruption to the water supply in several parts of Bardez, particularly affecting a specific area.

According to sources from the Public Works Department (PWD), the leakage issue originated at a joint in the pipeline. Swift action was taken by the PWD to initiate repair work, with half of the necessary repairs completed by the end of the day. The remaining repairs are scheduled to be carried out on Friday. To alleviate the immediate impact, the department has strategically lowered the water pressure, providing some relief to certain sections. However, it is anticipated that the affected area will continue to experience water supply issues. The PWD is diligently addressing the situation and ensuring that repairs are completed efficiently to reinstate normal water supply to Bardez taluka.
