Pomburpa-Olaulim VP issues stop work order to mega hsg project

MAPUSA: Pomburpa-Olaulim village panchayat has issued a stop work order to a controversial mega housing project. The notice was issued under Section 64(1)(6) of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994.

In his order, the Sarpanch stated, “Prima facie, an unauthorised construction is being carried out on the basis of Technical Clearance and Construction Licence, which has been obtained by fraud and suppression of facts and by misrepresentation. The panchayat also directed the owner to remain present in office or send an authorised representative within seven working days from receipt of Stop Work Order with reply and documents.”

“Failure to submit the reply will be presumed that the owner has no reply to furnish and further action will be decided on its own merits,” the order stated.

In the order, VP also stated that panchayat has received a complaint from Rashmit Dongrekar, Shri Dev Dhadeshwar Devasthan mahajans,  residents of Bhatan, Ecoxim Bhat, Velotim, Pomburpa and others for alleged illegal hill cutting, destruction of forest, destruction of natural cover and illegal construction activities in No Development Zone of Survey No. 292/ 1-L-7, 292 /1-L-8, 292/ 1-Q and 292/1-P  as well as complaint of the Director, Goa Foundation, complaining of illegal development being carried out in Survey No. 292/1/L-7 of Salvador do Mundo, falling within the jurisdiction of the panchayat.

The village panchayat and Pomburpa locals along with Goykarancho Awaaz have demanded suspension of the Technical Clearance Order and Construction License.
