In his complaint to Ponda police, the complainant stated that the company had organized the ticketed event and had intentionally denigrated Indian Flag on the eve of New Year.
“The National flag, which is a symbol of the nation’s pride, is respectfully hoisted on national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day. Some rules have been laid down regarding the usage and hoisting of the national flag in order to prevent its denigration,” states the complaint.
“All citizens are duty bound to follow this rules. The Ministry of Home Affairs has set up the ‘Flag code of India’, which governs the usage of the national flag by the citizens and violation of the code is an offence.”
“The company and all other accused have intentionally misused the national flag for their business achievement and to gain popularity only. So also in these events there are stalls selling liquor and people taking liquor and alcohol which is again insulting to the national flag and a serious offence. Hence, it is kindly prayed that FIR may be registered against all the accused,” stated the complaint.
