MARGAO: Gram sabha of Varca adopted a resolution demanding that the government should take action on units manufacturing plastic bags below the notified thickness.
At the gram sabha on Sunday, members also raised the issue of a builder constructing a multi-dwelling building behind Varca church when the panchayat body had issued licence for a bungalow. Sarpanch Lourenco informed gram sabha members that he had already written to TCP department to clarify on the matter as per earlier gram sabha resolution and that reply from TCP was awaited. Sarpanch promised to follow up with the TCP on the issue.
Another issue on construction of a hotel project at Langotem-Varca also featured with members saying that the previous body had granted licence after 11 years. The sarpanch promised to inspect the site.
Sarpanch Lourenco also informed that he has written to police authorities to intensify patrolling in the village to put a stop to theft cases.
