PANJIM: The Goa Housing Board (GHB) flat allottees at Gogol, who are currently experience hardship in order to raise the funds due to a lack of cooperation from the banks, called upon the Board for intervention on Thursday.
The delegation of allottees led by BJP Yuva Morcha, Navelim Constituency President Vinayak Volvoikar met Managing director Sabaji Shetye and demanded the Board should revert back to its traditional Lots System, rather than the auction, as the tenements value increases as per people bid.
Speaking to media persons, Volvoikar said pointed out that for the auction of 39 flats at Gogol, the tenements were initially valued at around Rs 35,000 per sq mtrs; however, during the auction, the value went up to Rs 50,000 per sq mtrs, thus escalating the value of the flat.
“The Board should not have gone for the auction process for the allotments as it is unfair method knowing that the Housing Board flats and plots are for the economically weaker sections,” he said.
He pointed out that since the value of the flat witness rise, the allottees were finding it difficult to raise the funds to pay to the Board within 25 days as per the rule. “They are facing lot of hardship as the banks are not entering them. Hence, we request the Board to please intervene and ensure that the allottees get the loan,” BJP leader said.
Volvoikar said that Board should revert back to the Lots System, wherein they use to identify the banks and recommend to the customers.
Later, when contacted, GHB managing director Sabaji Shetye said that we have assured the delegation to speak to the bank and work out solution. “The orders of allotment are yet to be issued. We will try and convince the banks,” he said.
