PONDA: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar on Thursday supported the demand of 43 employees of Ponda Municipal Council (PMC), who are opposing to granting extension in service to Arun Naik, head clerk, beyond the date of retirement on superannuation.

Dr Bhatikar alleged political patronage is facilitating the extension in service to Naik and added that the MGP is opposed to it.

The employees in letter to PMC Chief Officer raised objection in giving extension in services to Naik. MGP leader Bhatikar supporting to their demand said, “The MGP will not tolerate such things as it would be injustice to other employees. One person extension in services means deferment of promotions for six or seven persons.”

The letter stated that the PMC had also passed Resolution in 2015 not to grant extension in services to anyone to avoid setting a precedent for the future which is undesirable. Earlier, in the past, some retiring employees requested for extension in services and all were rejected and so in this case also no extension should be given.

The memorandum of objection has been signed by 43 employees of the PMC.

It is learnt that the PMC meeting is scheduled on October 9 and would discuss and take decision on the issue.
