CANACONA: The long pending demand to illuminate the road leading to Polem beach in south Canacona from NH66 road has been resolved after 650 mts of the road was lighted with solar streetlights recently.
“The work is undertaken under Swadesh Darshan Scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, Delhi, with an initiative to develop tourist circuits,” Polem ward panch Anoop Kudtarkar said.
“This stretch of village required lighting during night time as miscreants used to take advantage of dark and commit mischievous and nuisance for locals,” he said.
Entire Polem beach will be illuminated with solar lamps during the second phase, he added.
