While the police have begun to implement the no parking notification by installing traffic cones signs all along the road, the eastern side of the road is not available for parking for want of repairs to the shoulders.
When Margao Traffic Cell in charge, PI Prabodh Shirwaikar was questioned on the ban on two-wheeler parking in front of the police headquarters, he said he was only implementing instructions from the police higher ups.
He declined to comment why the police did not wait for the PWD to repair the road hit by uneven shoulders, PI Shirwaikar said he has only implemented what has been told to him by his superiors.
Admitting that the junk vehicles have occupied a lot of parking space at the old bus stand, PI Shirwaikar said the decision to lift away the scrap lies with the other police departments.
The police have triggered anger amongst the citizens, with people seeking to know whether the government has deployed “heartless” police officers for having implemented an old notification.

Incidentally, a delegation of citizens called on the Margao Municipal Chairperson Gonzaco Rebello on Monday to demand that the old bus stand opposite the district police headquarters is rid of the scrap vehicles.
They have demanded that the authorities resolve the parking imbroglio near the district police headquarters within 15 days or face action. Popular Front of India president Sheikh Abdul Rauf said the authorities should immediately remove all scrap vehicles from in and around the police station and build shoulders of the road opposite the police station for safe parking of two-wheelers.
The MMC chairperson has termed the demand raised by the delegation as genuine as the scrap vehicles have occupied parking space at the bus stand. He has promised to dash off a letter to the police to lift away the scrap from the old bus stand in order to utilise the area for parking.
