Police Constable Arrested for Allegedly Endangering CM Pramod Sawant’s Convoy at Amona Junction

Bicholim Police have arrested a police constable attached to the SDPO Ponda office for allegedly nearly ramming Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s convoy at Amona junction. The driver was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The accused, a resident of Marcel-Khandola, allegedly fled the scene after the incident but was later traced and brought to the police station for questioning before being placed under arrest.

According to police sources, there were five persons travelling in the vehicle at the time of the incident. It has also been reported that the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol while operating the car.

The Chief Minister’s convoy reportedly managed to avoid the vehicle, preventing what could have been a serious mishap.

Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the incident. Further legal and departmental action is expected based on the findings of the investigation.

The incident has raised concerns over road safety and security surrounding VIP movements, with authorities expected to examine whether standard protocols were violated.
