VASCO: Vasco Police on Monday detained Mormugao Municipal Council Councillor Saifullah Khan after he sat on a chain hunger strike in the Mangor Hill containment zone.
Khan claimed that the demands put forth by him for the residents of Mangor Hill containment zone were not fulfilled by the State administration.
When Khan was brought to the Vasco Police Station, this reporter tried to enter the police station to gather more information, but was denied entry by the police.
According to sources, Khan was later produced before South Goa Collector Ajit Roy, wherein Khan reportedly requested him to allow residents from the Mangor Hill containment zone to proceed for work by Friday.
He also mentioned the 10 demands which he had submitted to the Deputy Collector to be considered by the District administration.
He warned that if the demands are not met till Friday then he would once again sit on hunger strike.
Sources informed that the South Goa Collector assured Khan to look into the matter and hinted that the Mangor Hill may be freed from containment soon.
The Collector directed Khan not to sit on hunger strike.
