PANJIM: The Anjuna police filed a first information report against a sub registrar under sections 468, 471 and 420 of the IPC based on a complaint alleging that he forged a birth certificate to get a government job, therby cheating the government.
The complaint has asked for mandatory registration of an FIR under Section 154, citing court rulings that hold that if the information on the complaint discloses commission of a cognizable offence then no preliminary inquiry is “permissible in such a situation.”
According to the complaint the accused Prabakhar bhagwant Naik who is working as a sub registrar in Dharbandora forged a birth certificated in connivance with unknown persons. The complainants have asked the police to raid his office and residence to check if any criminal act has been done by him.
The complaint argues that the police have to register crimes in all the matters pointed out and prosecute those responsible for the same as also for any other offences that the police investigation may reveal have been committed.
According to the complainants …. Naik and others are “… conspiring with and /or acting in connivance with others involved for illegal benefits/gratification received by them directly or indirectly.
