Police have tough time to clear road blocks in Ponda

PONDA: Since past few days some enthusiastic locals in some villages of Ponda Taluka fearing spread of COVID-19 infection blocked the village main road so as to prevent the entry of strangers or the residents of other parts of State. 

The village youth took the leadership and felled a roadside tree to block the road and entry of strangers. However, at many places, Ponda Police rushed and cleared the blockades. 

The police had a tough time in clearing the obstacles as the locals clashed with them. There were heated arguments between police and the locals over the issue which went viral on social media. Not only police, but also the senior citizens argued that if any person fall sick, how would he get emergency medical service if road remained blocked for the ambulance.

Meanwhile, it was observed that some government doctors and even private practitioners are scared and are checking patients keeping a social distance. 

In one government hospital on Monday, one local experienced this and had an argument with the doctor for checking his mother maintain social distance. He asked the doctor to check his mother properly. However, there was altercation on the issue and the matter reached to the police. The patient in order to avoid further trouble did not file a complaint against the doctor nor doctor filed complaint against the youth.
