CORTALIM: The fugitive former Sancoale sarpanch and Panch Ramakant Borkar, who has so far failed to surrender in connection with a case against him, seems to be in for more trouble with the authorities contemplating to attach his properties.
According to DySP Bossuet Silva of Anti-Corruption Branch, the department has applied to the Chief Electoral Officer, to submit the list of his properties and the affidavit which he (Borkar) had filed for contesting Assembly elections in 2012.
Borkar had contested elections on UGDP ticket and was placed third after late Matanhy Saldanha and Nelly Rodrigues.
“We will now issue proclamation and attachment of his properties under Section 82 and 83 of CrPC, in case if he does not surrender,” Silva told Herald.
Meanwhile, the bail application of Borkar did not come up for hearing on Monday and Tuesday in the High Court and is likely to come up on Wednesday.
