MARGAO: Maina Curtorim police are seized with the investigations of dumping of biopsy parts in a marshy area in Verna which parts were supposed to be scientifically disposed off and not dumped in the fields as is the case.
The body parts which look like having come from hospital were packed in a liquid apparently for preservation and found lying in the field in Verna where the person had dumped.
In fact the containers have stickers naming the patient and even the doctor who was treating the patient whose part it was.
Superintendent of Police South Arvind Gawas said the police are still investigating the case and will follow up all clues including the names mentioned on the stickers. Incidentally, one of the doctors named is Dr Shekhar which the police would check.
SP said that one of the Sections would be 269 of the Indian Penal Code which is pertaining to negligent act likely to spread infection of diseases dangerous to life as the body parts could turn infectious when they putrefied.
