PONDA: Ponda Police seized seven metres sand along with the truck in which it was transported in a clandestine manner.
According to the police, the team led by Police Sub-Inspector Aditya Velip were on patrolling duty early Monday morning and when reached at Mardol at 5 am, they noticed one truck proceeding towards Ponda direction.

In order to check, the police stopped the truck and upon verifying found it was carrying sand in a clandestine manner. Upon interrogation, driver Pritesh Gaus Desai from Xeldem-Quepem disclosed that he loaded the sand at Banastarim and was proceeding towards Canacona via Ponda to unload the same but failed to provide document for transportation.
Later, the PSI lodged a complaint against the driver under MMDR Act and also registered an offence for theft of sand and transportation.
