PANJIM: Continually battling an increase in burglaries during the monsoon, Goa police has asked all police stations to stay alert to thwart any attempts of house break-ins and thefts.
During a crime-review meeting at police headquarters on Tuesday, Director General of Police T N Mohan instructed police inspectors to intensity patrolling in their jurisdictions and strengthen other security measures to curb crime.
The meeting, attended by district superintendents of police, sub divisional police officers besides PIs, also discussed creating awareness among the people to cooperate with the police by undertaking partial responsibility on the safety measures.
Police records indicate that house break-ins, entering a shop by bending shutters and other theft cases rise significantly during the monsoon. “This is the best time for the non-Goan criminal gangs to strike and escape to neighbouring districts. They will be under strict watch,” said an officer emerging from the meeting.
