MARGAO: Maina-Curtorim Police are all set to register a case against the person who circulated pictures of the minor girl who was raped by her neighbour in the forests of Sanguem on social media.
The FIR is to be registered following a complaint lodged by Bailancho Ekvott President Auda Viegas.
Briefing media persons, Viegas said that she was disgusted with the person who had sent the video of the victim girl even though the country has laws banning any form of identifying such victims particularly when they are minor.
“I have no problem if the picture of the accused is circulated as that will warn people about his character, but definitely not of the victim particularly when there are Supreme Court orders over the matter,” Viegas said disclosing that she has already complained to Maina Curtorim Police on this matter.
Viegas averred that the person who revealed the identity of the victim on the social media has committed a crime and demanded stern action against the perpetrator.
Maina-Curtorim Police Inspector S P Ekoskar said that the police would file an FIR shortly and that stern action would be taken against the one responsible for sending the picture of the victim girl, even if he is a police.
Meanwhile, Viegas has urged the people renting out their premises to check the antecedents of the tenants before doing so.
“There is an increase in child marriages which usually occur outside Goa and then the couple live in rented premises even though the so called wife is a minor,” she said.
