PORVORIM/ CURCHOREM/ VASCO: The feast of the Epiphany (the Three Kings feast) was celebrated with pomp and gaiety at Reis Magos, Cansaulim and Chandor on Wednesday.
Hundreds of devotees participated in the procession at Reis Magos church where Cyril Fernandes, Anthony Nadar and Jesmon Pereira dressed as three kings. Fr Water D’Sa was the main celebrant for the Mass. Later, speaking to Herald, Reis Magos parish priest Fr Angelo Bonamis stated that Reis Magos church is the first church in Bardez which was built by Franciscans in 1555 and has been declared as National monument by Government of India.
At Cansaulim, thousands offered prayers during the feast of the Epiphany (Three Kings Feast) at Nossa Senhora dos Remedios chapel. Miguel Gracias, Clive Gomes and Nathan Colaco dressed as three kings arrived in a procession on horses to the chapel from the villages of Arossim, Cansaulim and Cuelim.
Devotees queued up to offer prayers and seek blessings of Our Lady of Remedious. The traditional stalls selling sweets, grams and other household items were put up. The special feast Mass was offered by Fr Simao Fernandes.
At Chandor, the annual traditional feast of Our Lady of Bethlehem along with the Three Kings feast was celebrated at Nossa Senhora De Belem Church with pomp and gaiety. Parishioners — Sunray Rebello, Adrian Fernandes and Royce Antao dressed as kings came on the horses carrying gifts from Our Lady of Piety Chapel, Monte Hill, Chandor to Nossa Senhora De Belem Church, Chandor accompanied by a traditional brass band. The High Mass was celebrated at 10 am in the Nossa Senhora De Belem Church. Fr Succour Mendes, Professor at Rachol Seminary was the main celebrant along with Parish Priest Fr Saude Pereira and other priests.
