PONDA: Keeping one of Goa’s oldest painting arts alive, artist Sagar Naik Mule from Adpai, Ponda, with his hard work and dedication, has produced International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup trophies of all the participating 10 nations in Kaavi art form.
It is pertinent to note that Mule was appreciated by Prime Narendra Modi at his ‘Maan Ki Baat’ programme for reviving Goa’s oldest Kaavi Art form of painting.
Briefing media persons, Mule said that he aims to take Kaavi art to the global stage and plans to hand over these trophies to the respective teams.
Mule said, “ICC World Cup matches are progressing and I took this opportunity to display Kaavi art. I have used Goan mud, wood and Plaster of Paris (PoP) to produce these trophies and later painted them using Kaavi Art. This will help in the revival and spreading of Kaavi art across the globe.”
Stating that Kaavi art is a century old painting on walls and temples in Goa using red soil; he said, “I like to work in mud, Kaavi art means a game of mud. I plan to give all these trophies to teams of 10 cricket playing nations at the ICC World Cup.”
Recently, the G20 summit was held with the slogan ‘One Earth, One Family’, he said, “According to this concept, I prepared these trophies, as world teams are like family members. It took a month to prepare these trophies.”
