Already, around 14 COVID patients are shifted to Ponda Sub-District Hospital on the second floor.

It may be recalled that last year the patients were asked to vacate Ponda Sub-District Hospital for converting it into COVID Hospital and the entire medical facility at sub-district hospital last year was shifted to a private hospital at Farmagudi and few months ago was brought back after COVID cases subsided in 2020.

But now, as the COVID cases are increasing day by day it is likely that the Ponda Sub-District Hospital likely to be once again converted into COVID Care Centre.

Last year, the patients were complaining about lack of sufficient facility at the makeshift hospital where they were shifted and now once again worried whether they would get better treatment elsewhere in case of shifting of medical facility.

When Herald contacted Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude, he assured Pondaitees that if need arises Ponda Sub-District Hospital medical facility will be shifted to Animal Husbandry Guest House Building at  Curti.

“This guest house is near to Ponda town and it will not cause much inconvenience to the patients and their families and relatives,” he said.

Ponda MLA Ravi Naik said that the guest house at Curti is spacious and many patients can be accommodated if the sub-district hospital facility is shifted at the guest house.

Curti Animal Husbandry Guest House Building was recently inaugurated by Chief Minister after nine years of completion of delayed project initiated by Ponda MLA in 2011.
