PONDA: Kavlem, Durbhat and Ponda locals on Tuesday demand with the State government to commence the repair work of road from Kapileshwari junction to court building at Tisk-Ponda.
The locals said the road has become dangerous for the motorists especially bike riders.
The four sewerage chambers dug at this one-km stretch has left little road for the vehicles to proceed. The sewerage chambers are dug up to 12-meter deep in the middle of road and it has been almost more than a one year now they are existing and leaving little or insufficient space for the vehicles to move.
Locals said they are driving their vehicles through side shoulders of the road where rough concrete has been placed giving bumpy and bone breaking experience.
A Ponda local Viraj Sapre demanded to improve the side service road for the vehicles and to deploy more traffic police to manage smooth flow of traffic. There are incidents of bike riders falling while giving way to four wheelers while passing through the narrow service road which passes on the shoulder of road.
The locals demanded hot-mix carpeting on the temporary service road so that the journey is safe.
With the construction of sewerage chambers, width of the road has narrowed and little road is left for the motorists leading to traffic congestion on the busy road.
