Displaced kiosk owners continue hunger strike

PANJIM: The displaced kiosk owners who would operate outside Goa Medical College (GMC) continued their chain hunger strike for a second day on Tuesday.

The vendors hit out the government for removing them earlier this year in a high-handed manner without first ensuring that there is a place for them to be shifted to.  A vendor Vasudev Shirodkar who has been running his kiosk for nearly two decades, asked if the government wants to see that they are without means to earn a livelihood. 

Another vendor Shakuntala questioned the time taken by the government to fulfil the assurances that had been given to them about their rehabilitation plans.
