PONDA: Eight years after its inauguration, the Ponda Sub-District Hospital will finally get a CT scan machine soon.

Assuring the delegation of Ponda residents, who met him on Wednesday, Medical Superintendent Dr Kuvelkar said the higher officials informed him that the Ponda Sub-District Hospital would soon get the CT scan machine along with a radiologist and other medical staff.
The delegation led by Dr Ketan Bhatikar demanded that the Ponda Sub-District Hospital be given the status of a District Hospital with all medical facilities.
The locals reminded Dr Kuvelkar of the long pending demands of blood bank and CT scan machine for the Sub-District Hospital.
During emergencies the locals are forced to do CT scan at private hospital which is expensive, they said. Earlier the locals demanded that additional doctors and nurses be made available at the hospital to undertake major operations as hospital has ICU and operation theatre facilities.
Locals said except the OPD facility, for other illnesses they are referred to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim. They called for equipping the hospital with modern facilities as it is centrally located. Many people who come from Sattari and Dharbandora are left disappointed as they too are referred to GMC for treatment for all kinds of ailments.
