Ponzi scheme case accused granted anticipatory bail

MARGAO: The Principal District and Sessions Judge South Goa on Wednesday granted anticipatory bail to Arti Kashap, who had moved the bail application fearing arrest in a case registered by Economic Cell in a Ponzi scheme in which she allegedly duped 2,000 investors to the tune of Rs 3 crore. 

The court issued notices to defence and public prosecutors and posted the matter for arguments on July 27.

The court after hearing the arguments ordered to release her on furnishing bail bond of Rs.25,000 with one surety in like amount in the event of her arrest.

The Economic Offences Cell (EOC) of Goa police has arrested Haryana native Vijay Kumar Jaiswal alias Krishan Kumar, managing director of Yudivo Private Limited and others in this case.

Police said that Jaiswal, who is the main accused in this case, had set up offices at Sangam Vihar, New Delhi and Noida, Uttar Pradesh and also had an office at the Eastern bypass, Fatorda, Margao. 

“Jaiswal, along with nine others, with their common intention, promised various schemes to investors and committed cheating, fraud, criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of the amount by conspiracy,” the police said.
