PANJIM: Stating that the portion of southern side boundary wall of the St Inez Christian Cemetery has collapsed due to heavy rainfall and the remaining portion of the wall is also on the verge of collapsing, the Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP) has asked those who have laid their loved ones to rest in Niches to be present on July 31, when repair work will be carried out.
In a public notice, the CCP has said, ” Members of the general public are informed that the portion of southern side boundary wall of the St Inez Christian Cemetery has collapsed due to heavy rainfall and the remaining portion of the wall is also on the verge of collapsing. There are around 75 niches in the affected wall and the same need to be removed before the wall collapses.”
“The corporation intends to provide a secure and suitable location to house the remains till the re-construction work of the wall is completed. The individuals, who have laid their loved ones to rest in the Niches of the affected wall, are requested to remain present on July 31 at 11 am at St Inez Cemetery or else the work will be carried out in their absence and CCP should not be held responsible for any claim arising in future,” the notice said.
