PORVORIM: Most villages across Goa are faced with the problem of potholed roads.
A classic example of such roads is the KTC depot road leading to the Electricity Department at Porvorim has turned into an accident prone zone with several accidents taking place due to its bad condition.
The JICA-funded sewerage network project has left most roads in bad shape, which need urgent repairs.
Soter D’Souza, a Porvorim resident said the KTC depot road in Porvorim leading to the Electricity Department is in a pathetic condition.
“The other internal road leading to the cemetery is damaged due to the JICA works. The potholes have not been filled properly thereby making commuting along the route uneasy. This is causing traffic jams as vehicles slow down at this point trying to avoid the muck and water accumulated on this road,” Soter added.
Another local, Felix Fernandes informed that that road has been dug up due to sewerage work and it has become difficult for locals to commute along the route.
“Parents who come to drop their children to the school face a lot of hardship along the road. Travelling has become risky as the road has turned into a death trap,” Felix added.
