Post-mortem reveals parking attendant died of myocardial infarction: Sources

MAPUSA: The post-mortem report on Saturday revealed that 45-year-old Sagar Shripad Naik, a parking attendant and resident of Anjuna died due to myocardial infarction, sources said.

A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as heart attack occurs when blood flow decreases or stops to the coronary artery of the heart, causing damage to the heart muscle.

It may be recalled that in a horrific incident reported in Anjuna in broad daylight, Sagar died after being assaulted by tourists as they allegedly refused to pay the parking fee.

Earlier in the day, SP Shobhit Saxena said based on the post-mortem report the police will initiate further action.

SP Saxena said, “On Friday, we received information about a violent altercation at the pay parking area in Anjuna. Immediately, Anjuna Police staff commenced the inquiry. At the same time we received a complaint from the cousin of deceased. We have registered an assault case”.

“We have detained the suspects involved in the incident. They were detained along the Goa-Karnataka border in Canacona and we are further investigating the case. On Saturday we received the post-mortem report and we are studying the same and based on it we will initiate further action”.

“We have retrieved the CCTV footage and are analysing it along with post-mortem report and will investigate accordingly. Everything is being studied”, the SP said.

Police refused to reveal the identity of the five persons detained in the case.
