VALPOI: The PWD, road division, has patched up the potholes on roads in Sattari taluka with the mud few days ago, but the same have been washed away in the very first showers.
An angry Valpoi resident said, “We are paying the road tax for good roads not for mud roads. We cannot tolerate this. We will hold a morcha at the road department, Valpoi.”
“The PWD has found a novel way of repairing the roads by filling the potholes with mud rather than hot-mix; the mud fill gets washed away in the rains. This is disgusting; we will not keep quit now,” social activist Vishwesh Prabhu said.
“Is this the solution to potholes? The PWD has patche up the potholes in Valpai town with mud. This is officially done by the contractor and it’s a corruption by the PWD road department, Valpoi and the contractor,” allege Namu Gaonkar, a local.
“We will lead a morcha to the Road Department, Valpoi and will expose them,” threatened Shashikant Rane, another local.
When contacted, Assistant Engineer of Road Department refused to comment.
