CANACONA: A huge tree that crashed on 33KV line at Karmalghat and the damage two underground cables at Barcem on Saturday disrupted electricity supply to entire taluka and causing inconvenience to the people during major part of the day.
Sources at Canacona electricity office said that a huge tree fell on a 33KV circuit 10, power line in the forest of Karmalghat on Saturday morning affecting power supply to Agonda and Canacona Municipal area.
At the same time an earth mover employed by a NH66 contractor at Barcem also near to Karmalghat damaged 2 incoming 33 KV circuits no 12 and 13.
As all three incoming power lines were affected, entire Canacona taluka remained without electricity from 12 noon till 6 pm.
Even after power resumed post 6 pm, the electricity department staff were seen working at Barcem where the underground cables were damaged by an earthmover.
