Businessman Jim Fernandes complained that there was power shutdown from 10 am to 5.45 pm without an advisory, on Wednesday. “Is electricity department is going to compensate for us for the losses we suffered? asked an angry Fernandes.
When contacted the Executive Engineer of Mapusa Electricity department Rajgopalan said that out of the four transformers in Mapusa sub-station, one transformer suffered breakdown in the morning. Hence there was no power supply to parts of the Municipal market and the area around Alankar theatre.
So the electricity department had to shift the entire load of this defective transformer to the remaining three transformers and some load on the transformer at Nagoa substation, he said adding, the department would replace the defective transformer on Thursday.
