Aldona: Residents of Calvim-Aldona held a memorial service on February 19 for the six victims, including four primary school girls, who died in the Calvim bus tragedy 12 years ago. The actual day is Feb 18 but the prayer service was held on February 19.
Residents of Calvim-Aldona on Monday prayed for the souls of the six victims, which included six school girls, to mark the 12th anniversary of the tragic bus tragedy
Over 40 villagers gathered at the ferry warf where the tragedy took place and prayed for the souls of Elvina Dias, 13, her sister Diana Dias, 4, Josephina Dias, 58, Negal Gracias, 10, all from Calvim, Dayanand J Hoble, 55, Mayem and Priyal Salgaonkar, 10 from Nachinola.
It may be recalled that a passenger bus plunged into the river at Carona on February 18, 2012, killing six victims. The incident had stunned the entire State and there was an outpouring of grief.
