PANJIM: Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gaude on Monday said the State government will organise ‘Prerana Din’ a day of determination on May 25 at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir at Ponda.
Addressing the media, Gaude said, “The Government of Goa will be observing Prerana Din in memory of two martyrs of Scheduled Tribe community who laid their lives on May 25, 2011 during the agitation held for determining the rights and privileges that had been endowed upon the scheduled tribe’s community in accordance with the Constitution.”
The Department will also felicitate one male and one female who have worked for the tribal society for their betterment and upliftment and not for individual gain. They will be entitled for the Adivasi Pradnyawant Puraskar in the form of certificate, memento and Rs 1 lakh cash. “Due to code of conduct no certificate, memento and Rs 1 lakh will be given” Gaude clarified.
The minister further said that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be the chief guest of the Prerana Din, along will Minister for tribal welfare, chairperson of the Goa Commission for SC/ST and others will be present.
