PANJIM: A departmental inquiry conducted by Superintendent of Police (SP) Sucheta Dessai has indicted Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Narayan Pinge alias Rushal in serious offences of bigamy, fraud, cheating, possessing disproportionate assets and violation of conduct rules.
The 13-page inquiry report besides 104 pages of documents furnished by the Goa Police Department also contains 245 pages of documents, audio clips and video CD collected during the inquiry.
The inquiry against PSI Pinge was initiated on a complaint filed by a Vasco woman, who was allegedly duped and cheated by the police officer. A copy of the inquiry report has been obtained by the victim under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. In September 2020, while posted at the Police Control Room, Panjim, PSI Pinge on two occasions took the victim to plush hotels in the city for an overnight stay which was ascertained by the inquiry officer after checking the records of those hotels.
An already married, PSI Pinge on January 6, 2021 married the victim at a ceremony in Sancoale, and this was all confirmed in the statement by the temple priest, who had performed the marriage ceremony.
The inquiry report also points out that PSI Pinge on several occasions swiped the debit cards of the victim and her mother besides other financial transactions defrauding them. Pointing out that PSI Pinge had brought down the reputation of the office he occupies, the inquiry officer Dessai has recommended disciplinary action against the delinquent officer. PSI Pinge is currently attached to the Agasaim Police Station.
