PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said that professional colleges could be set up at Goa University complex.
“In the coming years if the Goa University (GU) give its consent many professional colleges, like pharmacy college, can shift and set-up their campuses at the university complex,” Parrikar said addressing an environment awareness and science inculcation workshop at Cujira
Parrikar said the government will adopt the Centre’s decision to ban the use of plastic and a fine structure will be set up soon. “Most of the drainages get choked up due to the thin plastic bags. Even the garbage treatment plants get choked up due to these plastic bags,” he said.
Speaking at the workshop, Task Force for Integrated School Complex (Cujira) Chairman, Siddharth Kunkolienkar said, “To overcome all the lacunae in terms of infrastructure, facilities and soft skills the government of Goa has formed a task force which consists of local Panjim MLA, educational specialists, infrastructure specialist and representatives of schools who are working to make a model complex.”
He said that water supply, electricity and roads infrastructure has to be set in place and that they have approached BSNL and taken their permission to link a road to the complex.
“We have also pushed the Electricity Department to set up a 2×400 KVA transformer for the complex and Public Works Department (PWD) has been tendered to install pipe lines. Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) will appoint a master planner to coordinate between all the agencies so that things do not clash into each other,” he added.
