MARGAO: Chairman of Kala Academy, MLA Vishnu Surya Wagh has promised the tiatr fraternity that the government would allot spacious premises for the tiatr Academy of Goa before the coming budget.
Speaking at the concluding function of the 4th Children’s Tiatr festival at the Gomant Vidya Niketan here on Thursday, Wagh said that he has taken up Tiatr’s Academy’s long pending demand with Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar. “The Chief Minister has promised to look into the matter. Hopefully, the Tiatr Academy will get it’s own spacious premises by the next budget”, he said.
The Kala Academy Chairman made fervent plea to the parents not to discourage children from taking up tiatr and acting as a career. “Those days are gone. Dedication can take you anywhere in the field of art. Art and not education has given me name and fame. Unlike Ministers, MLAs and politicians, an artist gets respect till he breathes his last,” he told the gathering, while complimenting Tiatr Academy of Goa for holding the Children’s Tiatr festival.
Wagh also announced that the Tiatr Festival organised by Kala Academy will be held in two groups from next year, adding that he would not mind even holding the Tiatr festival in South Goa.
In his brief address, President of Tiatr Academy of Goa Prince Jacob made an impassioned plea to parents not to stop their wards from taking Tiatr as a career. “Our children need our backing and support. God has given them the talent. Tiatr has a future and the profession is indeed paying compared to other professions”, he added.
