Property development plans cleared

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation has cleared proposals for developing various government properties and restaurants, in a bid to improve tourism infrastructure, hospitality and adventure sports in Goa.

PANJIM: The Goa Tourism Development Corporation has cleared proposals for developing various government properties and restaurants, in a bid to improve tourism infrastructure, hospitality and adventure sports in Goa.

Properties at Pernem, Mayem, Anjuna, Calangute and Margao will be developed on a priority basis, as decided at a board meeting, Thursday. Among the properties that will be developed is its unutilised property near Pernem Railway Station, to provide wayside amenities to tourists, such as an exhibition hall, restaurants, resting lounge and other facilities required by tourists on arrival in Goa.

Likewise, the board has cleared plans for developing Mayem Lake’s boating facilities, game fishing, play-area for children, seating arrangements, illumination and other requirements. 

All these projects will be funded by the government, GTDC officials said. Plans are also on to develop adventure sports at Anjuna, outside the CRZ area and parking facilities on GTDC land.

The Board on Thursday also cleared plans for upgrading its restaurants at the Calangute annex and Margao.
