Protesters march to Vishwajit Rane’s house over 39-A zone row

Angry protesters marched from Azad Maidan in Panjim to the residence of TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane, voicing strong opposition to the contentious 39-A zone change. Police attempted to stop the rally from proceeding by road, but demonstrators remained defiant and diverted their route, walking along the Miramar–Caranzalem beach to reach the minister’s home. The protest highlighted growing public concern over the proposed amendment, which locals fear could adversely impact their neighbourhoods and fragile coastal environment. Participants demanded greater transparency and accountability from the government and called for the immediate rollback of the proposal. The march saw heightened police presence as authorities monitored the situation and ensured the protest remained peaceful throughout.
