MARGAO: Concerns have been raised by citizens and commuters alike over the size of the overgrown bushes and ornamental plants on the road dividers and the side of the roads across Margao and Fatorda, which are obstructing the visibility of road users and increasing the risk of traffic accidents.
Locals gave the example of the crossroad junction between Agalli in Fatorda and Gogol, which witnesses heavy traffic passing through on a daily basis. Commuters complained that the bushes are blocking their visibility and that it is a risk for them when they are taking a turn either onto the Eastern Bypass or towards Fatorda or Gogol as they are unable to see the oncoming vehicles.

Locals have called for the authorities such as the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) or PWD to take action immediately and trim these bushes before an accident takes place as this stretch is particularly accident-prone. The ornamental shrubs grown on dividers and traffic islands are seen growing lusciously due to the rains, creating blind spots for motorists, and urgently need to be pruned, say locals.
