PANJIM: The Police Sub Inspector who rammed his car into a house at Ponda post-midnight last weekend, has been booked for rash and negligent driving while he also expected to face disciplinary action on Monday.
PSI Savlo Satodkar has been charged with driving his car in a rash/negligent manner without taking proper care and caution, endangering to human life.”
As per initial reports, when the errant PSI reached Khandepar junction near Parkar General Stores, he drove on the extreme right side while proceeding from Ponda towards Usgao direction and crashed into a house, which belongs to owner Sandeep Parkar. Part of his house collapsed with the strong impact of the accident.
The Ponda Police is also awaiting a report from the Transport Department, whose officials conducted an inspection of the car.
Police’s initial reports also suggested that neither did the 32-year-old native of Bicholim have pollution control certificate nor has a valid insurance cover for the car. The car also has tinted glasses. Brake failure or other problem with the car engine, if any will be mentioned in the Transport report.
“He will face action,” a source said adding he might face disciplinary action or suspension pending inquiry.
The PSI is posted at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula and was returning home when the incident occurred.
While the Goa Police has confirmed the PSI was not under the influence of alcohol, he could also face disciplinary action.
An FIR was registered under Sections 279 and 336 IPC on Sunday evening.
