PANJIM: A Police Sub-Inspector of 2014 batch was suspended for hoodwinking his department over investigations.
Director General of Police Indradev Shukla ordered the suspension of Utkrantrao Desai, attached to the Panjim Police Station, for gross misconduct and forgery.
Sources said that the PSI was facing preliminary inquiry into allegations that he was deceiving the department by claiming about filing charge sheets in those FIRs where he was the investigating officer.
The inquiry revealed he forged court numbers to show he had filed charge sheets in these cases.
He was reportedly handling 30-odd cases of which he claimed to have filed charge sheets in 14-15 cases. The PSI was earlier posted at Vasco Police Station and Security Unit.
The DGP thereafter ordered the Headquarters to issue his suspension which will be followed by a departmental inquiry by an officer appointed by higher-ups in the Police Headquarters.
It is however not known whether the department will file an FIR against him for the criminal offence.
