Pune youth drowns at Calangute

A 25-year-old tourist from Pune drowned at Calangute beach on Saturday afternoon, barely hours after he along with some friends had arrived in the State.
According to Drishti reports, Sachin Joshi was brought to the shores in semi-conscious state and was administered first aid by the Drishti Surf Life Team of Life Guards Sakharam Salgaonkar, Amit Shinde, Pradeep Halarnkar and Pandurang Sarmalkar.
Sachin was then rushed to the Candolim Primary Health Centre in a 108 Ambulance where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Calangute Police stated that Sachin and three other friends Avinash Gaikwad, Prakash Shinde and Raju Agarshi had arrived in Goa on Saturday morning and had gone for a swim at Calangute beach, where the tragedy took place.
PSI Mahesh Kerkar is investigating the case.
