PONDA: The Ponda Vikas Samiti (PVS) has accused Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar of making a U-turn and betraying the people on the medium of instruction (MoI) policy.
Addressing a news conference, PVS President Ram Kuncolkar criticised the chief minister for finalising Congress government’s decision on the MoI issue, claiming that the BJP had led an agitation when they were in the opposition.
“Parrikar has failed to keep his promise to keep MoI in the mother tongue in primary schools, which the BJP had made before the assembly elections,” stated Kuncolkar.
However, the PVS members lauded St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh, who is still vocal against the government decision and is supporting the MoI in the mother tongue.
The PVC members have decided to conduct campaigns against the BJP government in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
PVC members Milind Madgut, former chairperson of Ponda Municipal Council Kishore Naik, Jyothi Gaonkar and Avduth Haldankar were present for the news conference.
