PWD Minister assures water to each house

MARGAO: PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral has said that his department will ensure that there will be no need of water tankers in Goa and water will be directly supplied to each household.

The Minister was speaking to media persons on Wednesday where he also announced that the South Goa JICA project will be completed by May 15 and added that this project was discussed on priority at the last PWD meeting.

Cabral was speaking about the water supply situation in the State.

“24 hour water supply is desirable but not practical at the moment so will work on the 4-5 hours uninterrupted water supply for the consumers. I will personally look into water treatment as we already have a laboratory established for the purification of water required for drinking,” he said.

He emphasised that the department will also make sure that there will be no more water wastage.

“Online payment for water bills have been started for the convenience of consumers and many consumers have complained that they are not receiving the bills so will make that bill emailed to consumers if they provide their email address,” he added.

“PWD being a vast department it will take time to effectively give justice to each and every vertical but in the coming couple of months will study on this verticals and make a strategy to efficiently make each division work,” he added further.

“I have instructed officials to see that those living in residential complexes with multiple dwelling units also get the benefit of the scheme. Officials have been told to calculate their water usage and bills accordingly. So far, only independent houses were getting the benefit of the scheme,” said Cabral.
