CUNCOLIM: Quepem Municipal Council (QMC) has decided to inspect all the eating outlets like restaurants, tea stalls, bar and restaurants and gaddas.
Chairperson Rahul Pereira told Herald that the council has called a special meeting with health department to keep a check on all establishments that deal with food items.
“We will not hesitate to take strict action against those who do not keep cleanliness at their outlets. The Council and health department officials will inspect all food outlets and will submit their report to council,” Pereira said.
He said that if anyone is found guilty, the council would close down those eating outlets. “We can it compromise on the health of residents,” Pereira asserted.
He said that the council has received many complaints from locals regarding unhygienic conditions of food outlets in Quepem town.
The council has also convened a special meeting with electricity department regarding the erratic power supply. “The residents of Quepem town are facing frequent power supply problem and we want a permanent solution for this. We will discuss our issues with electricity department and will try to find a solution,” Pereira added.
