QUEPEM: A total of 240 candidates are contesting from eleven panchayats of Quepem taluka to contest in the forthcoming village panchayat elections. This time, many young candidates from all panchayats have filled their applications.
Due to reservations in some panchayats, Panchayat members who have been sitting in panchayats for many years have lost their seats.
As Quepem constituency is currently under the control of Congress MLA Altone D’Costa and former MLA Babu Kavalekar, who was elected four times from this constituency, has also made efforts to put up a strong show.
