QUEPEM: Quepem showed a little effect of lockdown on Friday morning as market functioned as any other busy day though with 50 % shops open, two wheelers busy moving in and out, people shopping groceries, stationary, vegetable, fruits; some some hotels were also found open in market area.
It seemed people are not worried of pandemic situation in market area which going through worse time.
One of the locals of Quepem municipal area, Joao Fernandes said, “Yes lockdown important but we cannot put extra pressure on people. Yes, protocol should be follow by every individual when you move in public places such as market place, offices…social distances and wearing mask is very important but lockdown don’t need total closure of market”
Avdhoot Sukhtankar local businessmen, “I also sell essential commodity but not grocery product but I have stationary products, newspapers which is also essential commodity.” “There should be proper decision on which is essential and which is not for today life but they are given right, and if I speak about that it will become controversial,” he added.
